Garda DOCs, five-star wines for all occasions
Wine admin Marzo 7, 2024

In the vineyards that adorn the hills around Garda, you will find exceptional wines such as Custoza and Lugana for the whites, the red Bardolino, also in rosé version with Chiaretto, to the DOC Garda sparkling bubbles.
The surroundings, extending as far as Valpolicella, propose more fine wines that are appreciated all over the world, such as Amarone and Valpolicella for the reds, to Recioto, a sweet dessert wine, both red and white.
Some of these wines have ancient origins, as there is evidence of the Garda grape varieties as far back as the Middle Ages.
The choice is yours, for the next “Garda Doc” tasting!

Custoza

From the vineyards around Custoza comes the eponymous wine: a dry light white, with fruity notes and above all delicate. Served just under ten degrees, it is ideal for a meal of local fish. Its variants are Custoza spumante and passito, perfect for an aperitif or dessert.

Lugana

Here is Lugana. Its region of choice is the lower Garda area. A sophisticated white wine, increasingly appreciated by chefs and gourmands, full-bodied, with fruity notes, harmonious enough to be paired with many local recipes, from hors d’oeuvres to risottos, from handmade pasta dishes to lake fish. For an aperitif, one can choose its sparkling version, Lugana superiore.

Amarone

Amarone, the king of red wines from the Veneto region, considered throughout the world as one of the great red wines of Italy, saw its beginnings in 1950. It is made from grapes left to dry in special rooms, on wooden trellises: fermentation is completed and an opulent dry wine is obtained, with a particularly high alcohol content.

Valpolicella

Valpolicella is the wine of the hills and valleys north of Verona, an area that binds the Denominazione di Origine Controllata of the bottles. Valpolicella comes in different versions. From the lightest and best for meals, simply named ‘Valpolicella’, a wine made from fresh grapes, crushed and fermented after the harvest, to Valpolicella Superiore, made from more carefully selected grapes and matured for 12 months in wooden barrels, to Valpolicella Ripasso, fermented twice, benefiting from the aromas of the skins of selected Amarone grapes.

Bardolino

Bardolino is the dry, light wine produced from the vineyards of the moraine hills behind the lake. Ruby red, with hints of cherry, it comes from various grapes, but the most important grape variety is Corvina Veronese, a native variety that was indispensable to win the DOC. One variety of Bardolino is Bardolino Chiaretto, a light rosé that is perfect with lake fish dishes.

Recioto

And to celebrate, Garda DOC bubbles highlight the domain of sparkling wine, produced with the charmat and classic method.

Garda DOC

E per celebrare, le bollicine del Garda DOC fanno brillare lo spumante del Garda, prodotto nelle declinazioni metodo charmat e metodo classico.
